SUMMARY:Trawl to Trash Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Trawl to Trash Workshop\nWednesday\, July 30 @ 10 AM – 11 AM • Brunswick OHM Office\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn an effort to prevent litter from entering the marine environment\, Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant launched the Trawl to Trash program\, which engages the public in outreach and stewardship activities that educate communities about the impacts of marine debris and encourage use of the recycled trawl bags to collect and remove debris from Georgia’s waterways. \nIn this workshop you will learn how to prevent litter from entering the marine environment and inspire behavior change in Georgia’s coastal communities\, ultimately reducing the negative impacts of marine debris on the coast. Program participants will learn how to construct their own trawl to trash bags using recycled shrimp net material so that it can be used to collect marine debris along the coast! This is a family-friendly program\, geared toward an audience of age 8 and up. \nThis event is free to attend. Due to limited space\, registration is required. Click here to register! \nThanks to support from the National Sea Grant College Program\, Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant is able to provide this Trawl to Trash Program in our community.

DESCRIPTION:Issues Investigations: A Conversation About Sapelo [Rescheduled!]\nMonday\, July 21 • 12 PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe fight to #KeepSapeloGeechee has been a long and convoluted one. This natural live-bottom reef is teeming with marine life and is part of the endangered North Atlantic right whale’s calving ground. Here’s your chance to change that! Sarah Porter\, the Chapter Director of Gray’s Reef\, will bring the reef to you as she shares the secrets of this astonishing place and gives us a peek into the ongoing research taking place in the Sanctuary. \nJoin us at OHM’s new Savannah office (1702 Bull Street\, Savannah) on Thursday\, April 17. Doors open at 6:30 PM; the lecture will begin at 7. If you can’t come in person\, join us online! \nRegister for this free lecture now!
