We’ll cruise the island on four wheels and explore areas that are experiencing natural changes from tides\, salt\, wind\, storms\, and wildlife interactions. \nCheck Blackbeard Island off your coastal bucket list on this exciting day trip! This field trip is open to ages 15 and up; be prepared to walk over two miles. Bring your own lunch\, water\, bug spray\, and sunscreen. Our guide\, Kristen Zemaitis\, CRP Biologist & Educator\, and staff from the US Fish and Wildlife Service will also provide unique insight into the ecology\, history\, and federal management projects of Wassaw Island. We’ll keep an eye out for hatchling tracks! A portion of the event proceeds will go to support the Caretta Research Project. \nThis field trip is open to ages 15 and up; be prepared to walk over two miles. Please know we will take an open skiff (boat) to the island and ride in UTVs on the island. Participants will need to pack their own lunch\, bug spray\, and sunscreen. This field trip (like all sea turtle work!) will happen rain or shine. We will launch at 9 am and will return to the mainland by 2:30 pm. \nThis trip is sold out.
