DESCRIPTION:The Weeping Time Commemoration Weekend\nThursday\, Feb. 29 through Sunday\, March 3\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“165 years ago\, on March 2nd and 3rd\, 1859\, one of the largest sales of enslaved Africans and African Americans took place in West Savannah\, Georgia. 429 men\, women\, boys and girls were sold over those two days as a steady rain poured in that city\, stopping only after the last person had been sold. It became known as The Weeping Time\, not because the enslaved wept –they didn’t — but because they stated that God must have been weeping\, hence the rain.” \nThis commemoration includes panels\, meals\, performances\, lectures\, and reflective activities. Events will be happening each day at different locations along the coast and inland.
