SUMMARY:Coastal Science Symposium 2024
DESCRIPTION:College of Coastal Georgia’s Coastal Science Symposium 2024\nFriday\, December 6 • 8:30 AM to 12 PM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe College of Coastal Georgia Department of Natural Sciences is pleased to host Coastal Science Symposium 2024 on Friday\, December 6\, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The annual event brings together students\, faculty\, collaborators\, and community members to explore coastal and marine research\, management\, conservation\, and more! One Hundred Miles will have a table… come say hi! \nThis year’s keynote speaker is Dr. David Patterson\, a Biology Professor at the University of North Georgia and head of the SCALE Lab\, which studies ecological community and landscape evolution. Among other projects\, this group hosts regular fossil digs at Clark Quarry here in Brunswick\, where they have discovered numerous Pleistocene fossils\, including huge megafauna like bison and mammoths as well as tiny microfossils from frogs\, snakes\, mice\, and fish. \nThe symposium features the work of Coastal Georgia students\, who will present posters on their research and experiential learning in biology and environmental science. Community partners will also provide educational exhibits and opportunities to get involved in science and conservation on the Georgia coast and beyond. \nThe symposium is free and open to the public – no registration is necessary.
