SUMMARY:Fall Migration Field Trips: Shorebird Migration on Little Tybee Island
DESCRIPTION:Birding Georgia’s Coast: Fall Migration Field Trips — Shorebird Migration on Little Tybee Island\nSaturday\, October 18 • Little Tybee Island\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdd to your coastal Georgia birding knowledge with a whole new set of seasonal species! Join One Hundred Miles as we visit coastal Georgia’s unique birding hotspots during the peak of fall migration. Learning will take place in the field and on the go. \nThis afternoon boat trip will begin at 3:30 pm. We will leave from Tybee Island to explore the vital role that uninhabited Little Tybee Island and adjacent sandbars and spits play during the fall migration of shorebirds. These sensitive habitats provide essential fueling and rest for the birds as they head south to overwinter. This small group trip will be guided with the help of captains who have received Coastal Awareness and Responsible Ecotourism Certification. Duration- 3 hrs. Rigor- Primarily by boat with some short walks on loose sand; tide and weather permitting. \nWe’re excited to host this birding adventure to Little Tybee Island alongside Allie Hayser from Manomet\, a conservation organization committed to shorebird species protection. Learn more about their work on Georgia’s coast. \nLimited tickets available! Secure your spot now.
