Naturalist 101 Field Trip: A Day on Sapelo

Tuesday, February 24 • 8:30 AM – 3 PM • Sapelo Island

Nature and history collide on Sapelo Island, Georgia’s fourth-largest barrier island. Sapelo is home to the Hog(g) Hummock Community, the last island-based Gullah Geechee community in Georgia, and vast wildlife conservation areas managed by the State of Georgia and University of Georgia research institutions.

Join OHM’s Justice Strategist and Sapelo descendant, Jazz Watts, and Coastal Education Coordinator Stephanie Chewning for “A Day on Sapelo Island.” You’ll walk away with a better understanding of Sapelo’s extraordinary ecological and cultural history—past, present, and future.

Sapelo is ferry-access only, and limited spots are available—pre-registration is required. We will eat lunch together at Miss Lulu’s Café on the island (lunch is provided in your ticket price) and return to the mainland around 3 pm.

You will receive full details in your confirmation email after registration. If you have any questions about this trip, please contact Stephanie ([email protected]).

Tickets are $125 for members and $150 for non-members. Register here.
