Incentives to Give in 2020
The CARES Act lifted the cap annual contributions from 60% to 100% of adjusted gross income (contributions must be itemized). It also created a new above-the-line deduction for charitable cash contribution up to $300.
For Major Donors – CARES lifts the existing cap on annual contributions for those who itemize, raising it from 60% of adjusted gross income to 100%. Any excess contributions can be carried over for five years.
For Non-Itemizers – CARES includes a temporary, non-itemizer charitable deduction up to $300. In other words, you can deduct up to $300 over your standard charitable deduction for gifts made in 2020.

Atlantic Horseshoe Crab (Limulus polyphemus)
This “living fossil” is one of Earth’s oldest species–even older than the dinosaurs! Despite their common name, horseshoe crabs are not crabs, but are more closely related to arachnids like spiders, scorpions, ticks and mites. During the spring and summer, they migrate in large numbers towards sandy beaches and congregate in the shallow water to breed. Their eggs provide a valuable source of food for many species including our coast’s threatened red knots.
Your Horseshoe Crab membership helps protect the habitats these ancient ‘spiders of the sea’ rely on, and in turn, the other animals who depend on their existence for survival. Join as a member >>
With your help, we’ll enter 2021 ready to tackle our coast’s biggest challenges.
“We are grateful to have such dedicated members—we could not do our important work without you.”
